Praying program of the last day of the pilgrimage took place in the centre of the Ukrainian sanctuaries of
Rome – in the Basilica of St. Sophia. It was the main objective consolidating all the pilgrims of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church during the three days.
At
10 a.m. in the Basilica of St. Sophia eminent Bishops Dionisiy Lyakhovych, Iryney Bilyk, Josaphat Hovera, Hlib Lonchyna and Apostolic Nuncius to
Ukraine, Archbishop Ivan Jurkovych together with a numerous number of priests celebrated an Archiereyal Holy Liturgy. Most of the pilgrims were the workers, who had to leave their homes to look for better life. Many faithful from other countries came for the celebration. In the Holy Liturgy apart from the seminarians there participated about 50 pilgrims from Ternopil under the conduct of father Andriy Hovera. Bishop Dionisiy Lyakhovych, Apostolic visitator for Ukrainians in
Italy and
Spain presided in the Liturgy. A homily was delivered by Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, in which he underlined that St. Sophia is the center of the spiritual unity for all Christians.
Afterwards the program of the pilgrimage was continued by the choir of the Josyf Slipyj Higher Theological Seminary in Ternopil, conducted by Stepan Kansky. Choristers sang some songs on the theological and patriotic themes to support the Ukrainian pilgrims and raise their spirits. In the end all together sang the national hymn of
Ukraine.
